On 2 November 2026, Maestro Arkady Beryn and the Filharmonie Brno turn Hans Scharoun’s golden concert hall into the most elegant address in the city for one evening.
There are cities whose season is measured in openings, and Berlin in November is one of them. The Operngala-Nacht at the Philharmonie Berlin on Monday, 2 November 2026 is the kind of evening that gives a trip its centre of gravity: a full symphony orchestra, three international voices and a building that has been photographed almost as often as it has been played in.

The Philharmonie announces itself from the outside. Scharoun’s golden, tent-like façade rises at the Kulturforum on the edge of the Tiergarten, minutes from Potsdamer Platz. Inside, the foyer’s angled staircases and split levels are an experience before the first note; the Großer Saal, with 2,440 seats rising in terraces around the stage, was the world’s first “vineyard” hall and remains its most famous.
Then the voices. René Barbera, the Texan tenor who in 2011 became the first singer to win all three top prizes at Plácido Domingo’s Operalia competition, now moves between the Metropolitan Opera, La Scala and the Opéra de Paris.

Florian Sempey, Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres, is the French baritone whose Figaro has been the one to see from Paris to Covent Garden. Soprano Alisa Medvedeva is a graduate of the Saint Petersburg Conservatoire, she has performed internationally at venues including Dubai Opera, Wiener Stadthalle and Mozarthaus Vienna, with further appearances in Paris, Monaco, Porto Cervo, St. Moritz and Bucharest.
Holding it together is Maestro Prof. Arkady Beryn – the conductor a German headline once called the star of the show (“Dirigent Beryn ist der Star”). Chief Conductor of the Internationale Symphoniker Deutschland from 2003 to 2011, he has conducted in the Golden Hall of the Vienna Musikverein, the Amsterdam Concertgebouw and the Philharmonie Berlin itself, and has appeared with Aida Garifullina, Roberto Alagna and José Carreras; his most recent concerts with Garifullina were at the Tonhalle Düsseldorf in 2025 and the Wiener Konzerthaus in 2026. Alongside him is the Filharmonie Brno, one of the Czech Republic’s great orchestras since 1956.
Tickets from €26.50 are available via Eventim, and the evening begins at 20:00.
