Jamie Dimon, chief executive of JPMorgan Chase, and his wife Judith have donated $12 million to twelve historically Black colleges and universities through the United Negro College Fund. The gift, made through the James and Judith K. Dimon Foundation on August 20, 2026, establishes the Dimon Fund to Advance Economic Opportunity and creates permanent endowments at each participating school as part of UNCF's broader $1.5 billion capital campaign.
Twelve schools, one shared fund
The institutions receiving support are Benedict College, Dillard University, Edward Waters University, Huston-Tillotson University, Jarvis Christian University, Johnson C. Smith University, Miles College, Oakwood University, Shaw University, Stillman College, Tuskegee University and Voorhees University. In a joint statement, the Dimons said, "Our system of HBCUs continue to serve as the springboard to success for thousands of students in pursuit of the American Dream."
Part of a longer philanthropic pattern
The foundation, established in 1996, distributes millions of dollars annually toward education and economic mobility, and this isn't the couple's first connection to UNCF: Jamie Dimon previously served on the organization's board. Judy Dimon has separately focused the foundation's grantmaking on career-connected learning for New York City public school students, including helping launch FutureReadyNYC, an initiative aiming to give 100,000 students real career experience by 2030. The HBCU gift extends that same focus on economic opportunity to a national scale.
