Spider-Man: Brand New Day pulled in $144.5 million domestically in its second weekend, a total no Sony film has ever matched that far into its run. The film has now accumulated $1.67 billion worldwide in just 10 days, with $655.1 million of that domestic and more than $1 billion coming from international markets. That pace made it the year's highest-grossing film in only seven days, overtaking Toy Story 5's $1.07 billion. Its second-weekend total came close to matching the all-time record of $149.2 million, set by Star Wars: The Force Awakens back in 2015.

## Nolan's Odyssey keeps climbing too

The same weekend saw Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey add $31.5 million domestically in its fourth weekend, pushing its global total to $1.1 billion and making it Nolan's highest-grossing film ever, unadjusted for inflation, surpassing The Dark Knight Rises's $1.08 billion. The film also set a new domestic IMAX record, earning $147.3 million on that format alone.

## A summer running well ahead of pace

Both films are part of a broader surge at the box office: five movies have already crossed $1 billion this year, more than in any year since 2019, and summer ticket sales are running 18.5% ahead of last year's pace. Industry projections now put the season on track for around $4 billion in revenue, a mark only 2023 has cleared since the pandemic. Smaller releases had a quieter weekend by comparison, with One Night Only opening to $5.7 million and Super Troopers 3 debuting at $4 million, underscoring just how much of the box office is currently concentrated in a handful of blockbuster titles.
