# MrBeast Is Worth $2.6 Billion and Still Says He's Short on Cash

> Jimmy Donaldson's YouTube empire and Beast Industries are valued in the billions, but he says his personal bank balance tells a very different story — one familiar to plenty of founders whose wealth is locked up in equity, not cash.

Jimmy Donaldson, the 28-year-old creator known to 514 million YouTube subscribers as MrBeast, has a net worth estimated at $2.6 billion. By his own account, though, he barely has cash to show for it. In a recent interview, Donaldson said he has borrowed money, including from his mother to help cover his wedding, and described his personal finances in blunt terms: he keeps less than $1 million in savings and reinvests almost everything he makes back into his business.

## Rich on paper, tight on cash

"I'm borrowing money. That's how little money I have," Donaldson said, adding that he currently considers himself to have "negative money." The gap between his headline net worth and his liquid savings comes down to where the value actually sits: in Beast Industries, the company behind his YouTube channel, Feastables chocolate bars, Lunchly snack kits and the revived MrBeast Burger brand. The company was recently valued at roughly $5 billion, and Donaldson estimated he earned around $85 million between April 2024 and April 2025 — most of which, he said, goes straight back into content. He put this year's production budget at roughly a quarter of a billion dollars.

## A familiar pattern among founders

Donaldson isn't alone in describing wealth that looks enormous on a balance sheet but doesn't translate into everyday spending money. Gymshark founder Ben Francis, whose stake in the fitness brand is valued at around $1.3 billion, has similarly said his wealth exists mostly "on paper." Scale AI cofounder Lucy Guo, who holds a stake in the AI company worth roughly $1.3 billion, has also spoken about keeping her personal spending modest despite her paper fortune. For founders like Donaldson, the math is straightforward: the more a company reinvests to grow, the less its founder tends to have sitting in a checking account, no matter how large the valuation gets.
